About
简介The Tsinghua University Alumni Association of Greater Houston is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered in Texas, with no political or religious purpose. Our mission is to serve Tsinghua alumni who work, study and live in Greater Houston: to strengthen ties among alumni, to provide a place for them to connect, and to keep close links with Tsinghua University in Beijing as a bridge between the university and its alumni.
In the summer of 1996, alumni studying and working in Houston — Shunfeng Zheng, Yubo Ting, Ming Huang, Qian Zhang, Shu Huang, Liping Li and others — began reaching out to Tsinghua graduates in the area to form an association. On April 26, 1997, Tsinghua's 86th anniversary, the association was founded at the Chinese Consulate General in Houston.
Today HTAA has 500–600 registered members, from alumni who graduated in the 1960s to those who have just left campus; graduates of both Tsinghua in Beijing and National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu are part of the family. Our spring and fall picnics are the largest Tsinghua alumni gatherings in the Houston area and often draw alumni from College Station and Austin. HTAA also hosts talks and social events throughout the year.
Thirty years through wind and rain,
thirty years hand in hand.
The Tsinghua dream shines far from home;
our alumni bond endures in Houston.
